mercati[s]coperti_for real

Do you remember the work on the refurbish/rethinking of the milanese public covered markets? After the announcement of the future conversion of the qt8 market into a farmer’s market , Comune di Milano just published a competition for a proposal to menage another structure, the one in Piazza S. Maria del Suffragio . The brief is to think a functional mix, not only selling of goods but include other key functions related to information, education, workshop, production..

You just need to find an economic partner and you can have a look of what we’ve thinked for the mercati[s]coperti course few years ago ( brief here, student’s work here) and more recently for the fablab projects (brief here, proposals here).

24.07.2013 | WHAT’S THE RIGHT SHOP?

A few weeks ago we asked our Facebook followers ‘WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SHOP’ … the 2th September find out  WHAT’S THE RIGHT SHOP!

Any suggestion on laboworks page on facebook is welcome!

130724-WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE SHOP

Many students of the Scuola del Design at the Politecnico di Milano have sent their application for  the Retail Future Challenge, only 9 were selected to access the third stage of the competition!

We asked these students to “find” a store in Milan  possessing a good competitive skill and that has  a big potential to be the pilot project of an innovative international system.
In the proposal must be specified why it’s a strong candidate for expansion into another country, how you would imagine the international development and how the space will be transformed for the future consumers.

Only one condition : the shop must not be currently operating internationally.

The 9 proposals will be examined, and among them the 4 students who submit the best suggestions will go to Paris for the Retail Future Challenge.

Qualche tempo fa abbiamo chiesto a chi ci segue su facebook ‘QUAL E’ IL TUO NEGOZIO PREFERITO’… il 2 settembre scopriremo ‘QUAL E’ IL NEGOZIO GIUSTO!

I vostri suggerimenti sulla pagina di laboworks su facebook sono benvenuti!

17.07.2013 | first selection

130626-stage3_cartolina copyThe first stage of selection for Retail Futures Challenge is over.
Here are the names of the 9 Retail Futures experts selected for Stage 3:

Flavia Chiavaroli
Antonio Lancelotti
Chiara Leonardi
Ilenia Martino
Alessandra Mazzari
Ninlika Pattaravorakun
Martina Panzeri
Alberto Re
Maria Teresa Reccia

For Stage 3 each student will have to select a store-based retail concept (selling direct to consumers) that is currently trading in Milano. This concept should be selected because you believe it to be strong, possessing a good competitive edge and having a long term potential; it must be currently not operating internationally.

Thanks to all the students who have sent their application, we hope that there will be other opportunities to work together.

09.07.2013 | fabSTORE show

We had in mind to design a fabSTORE, a special place where the makers, the neighborhood, the design community will meet to participate to a project, to fix something, to sell or buy personal design. We have now four of them, designed by four teams for the master I.D.E.A in Exhibition Design @ Politecnico di Milano.

According to the topic, the designs have been presented through a tumblr that you can browse for more details.

Bianca Figurelli and Aline Magalhaes have worked on the idea of different density coming from the city functions (more commercial) going towards the park-aside-labs (more creative). A walk through layers in which geometrical structures organize specialized spaces. Couldn’t miss the ‘avenida’, a fourth space leading to the park. For Fablab QT8 visibility is not just for the people passing by but even for satellites with the bright yellow shouting the new spaces.

Erica Ghizzi and  Elettra Salvestrini  drift us in a surrealistic and ironic environment thanks to the great attendance of trans generational cartoons.  YouT8_UrbanLAB strictly develops for the core lab, where ray-radius-spider legs carry and distribute all the working devices; unformal spaces devided by pilasters are imagined both for the market and the fair in a always changing space in which the setting up is prodiced by the lab.

Flavia Chiavaroli and Anna Tadini‘s mi fab store is a real, efficient and clever circuit in which conceptually and phisically energy from the core-lab is distributed to the different hierarchical spaces; networks, communication and  openness are the keyword that are very clearly readable into the single details of the design process and results.

Alessandra Mosele and  Maria Teresa Reccia for other store imagined a quiet abstract space, with white soft textile, fluid spaces, and a ghost atmosphere. The formal inspiration comes form molecolar shapes, distinctive elements that characterize the differents spaces
